
Dr Mariam Tokhi
Mariam Tokhi is a medical doctor in refugee health, and writer in Naarm/Melbourne. She has pioneered the teaching of Narrative Medicine in Australia.
Mariam runs Narrative Medicine workshops, including for clinicians, using creative writing to encourage creativity and care.
Mariam completed her medical degree at Monash University, a Master of Public Health at Johns Hopkins University, and completed certification in Narrative Medicine at Columbia University.
She writes, reflects and advocates about primary care, women’s health, refugee health and healthcare for vulnerable communities. Her work has featured in The Guardian, The Age, ABC, Psyche, Australian Doctor, New Matilda and others.
